KIN KIN KITCHEN
Nestled in the tranquil hills of Kin Kin on the Sunshine Coast, this kitchen transformation is a testament to craftsmanship, collaboration, and thoughtful design.
This recent renovation was a true labor of love—taking 15 months from the first inquiry to completion. Designed in collaboration with Kelsey Hutchinson, this kitchen was carefully planned, modeled in SketchUp, and refined through several design iterations to achieve the perfect balance of aesthetics and practicality.
Crafted from solid American white oak, every element of this kitchen showcases the warmth and durability of natural timber. The cabinetry is finished with Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil, enhancing the wood’s natural grain while providing long-lasting protection. The custom-designed handles, created in collaboration with the client, add a personal touch to the space.
One of the biggest transformations in this project was the removal of an entire wall, opening up what was once a cramped 1970s kitchen into a spacious galley-style layout that seamlessly integrates with the living and dining areas—perfect for the Australian lifestyle. The sleek Hettich AvanTech YOU drawer runners provide effortless movement, ensuring smooth and quiet functionality.

A standout feature of this renovation is the Tasmanian oak pantry, a separate custom piece designed to store food and appliances out of sight. With its traditional dovetailed oak drawers, it offers both elegance and practical storage, keeping the main kitchen space clutter-free.
This project is the result of close collaboration between the client, designer, and builder. A timeless and highly functional kitchen that perfectly complements modern Australian living.
