G'day, I'm Ben.

I operate a boutique workshop in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland, Australia; where I design and build contemporary timber furniture and homewares including custom builds and a selection of made to order pieces.

A self taught craftsman, I originally studied Musical Theatre and moved to Melbourne to pursue a career on stage. Between jobs in the theatre I found a passion for building theatre sets and have, on more than one occasion, built sets for stage productions in which I was also a member of the cast. I moved back to the Sunshine Coast to complete a masters in performing arts, after which I decided to merge both my passions for making and creating stories. Thus, Ben Adams Furniture Studio was born.

I believe every handmade object tells a unique story, communicating it's own history and unique details imparted by the maker and materials. A story that is added to and enriched with every scuff, stain, and scratch through years of love and use. That’s why the things I make are well designed and thoughtfully made with love and attention to detail so they can stand the test of time.

Minimising waste and reducing the impact on the environment are values I strongly believe in. I only use sustainably sourced timber, found locally wherever possible, and the pieces I make are a lifetime investment, meaning less furniture in landfill. I also donate 1% of every piece of furniture I make to local tree planting and bush regeneration initiatives.

Long story short, the aim of Ben Adams Furniture Studio is to produce furniture that both looks good and feels good to use.
